2014 Garbage and Compost Site Calendar

Winneconne Goes Single Stream

Single Stream Recycling - It allows all recyclables including paper, cardboard, cans and bottles to be mixed together for collection, either in a cart or bin. It does NOT mean trash materials are mixed with your recyclables, only that paper and container recyclables may be mixed together.

Why change to Single Stream? - It makes recycling easy. No separation increases the ease and convenience of recycling, so that more people participate and more resources are saved. It can also make collection easier and more efficient as all recyclables can be mixed in a single compartment in the truck.

Plastic Bags - Whether blue, clear or any other color, they will not be accepted as of January 2010. In addition, plastic bags should NOT be used at any time with Single Stream Recycling.

Mix ALL of these recyclables with Single Stream

Do NOT recycle

Newspaper Plastic engine oil brake fluid
Corrugated Cardboard Bathroom and diaper paper
Magazines & Catalogs Wide mouth #2 containers
Junk Mail & Envelopes Transmission fluid
Office & Writing Paper Paper with food on it (pizza boxes)

KEEP IT CLEAN!

IT IS STILL IMPORTANT TO RINSE YOUR CANS/BOTTLES TO REMOVE FOOD AND LIQUID. THIS IS ESPECIALLY IMPORTANT WITH SINGLE STREAM, WHERE PAPER AND CONTAINER RECYCLABLES SHARE YOUR RECYCLING BIN OR CART.
