Best Practices to Keep You and Your Family Healthy

We urge you to take steps to keep yourself healthy, keep your friends and neighbors healthy, reduce strain on our health care system, and optimize resources to care for those most in need:

  • Practice social distancing.  (What is social distancing?)
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially before eating and after going to the bathroom, blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing.
  • Call your healthcare provider before going into a clinic if you are experiencing mild to moderate symptoms of COVID-19. This will allow them to provide guidance, prepare ahead if you need to be seen, and minimize risk to others.

Updates from the State of Wisconsin

To slow the spread of COVID-19, Governor Evers issued an order on March 17 that prohibits gatherings of 10 or more people.  The order requires that bars and restaurants close, except for take-out or delivery service.  Click here to read the order, including any details or exemptions that may apply to your business or organization.

Resources to help manage expenses on reduced incomes

We recognize that some of the measures taken to prevent the spread of COVID-19 impose significant burdens on our residents and businesses.  The UW-Madison Division of Extension has put together a special COVID-19 Financial Resources page. It contains links to many government sites where you can turn for more information on topics like applying for public assistance, low-interest small business loans, and other topics.

The Families & Finances resource page has links to all of the financial programming and resources available through UW-Madison Extension.

The Managing Your Personal Finances in Tough Times page has specific topics that can assist those dealing with challenging financial situations.

Officer Honer School Resource Officer

NEW SRO at Winneconne Schools

School has been in session now for a few weeks. By now all the students, staff and parents should have noticed the new school resource officer (SRO), Officer Honer from the Winneconne Police Department. After the Winneconne School Board and the Village Public Safety Committee agreed that it would be in everyone's best interest to have an SRO full time at the schools, Officer Honer was assigned to that position. Part of the reason to put him at the schools was to handle all incidents involving any ordinance or criminal violations. Officer Honer is doing much more than handling violations, he is building positive relationships with the students, faculty and parents Office Honer is at all three schools daily.

no bags in recycling totes

Just a friendly reminder - no plastic bags in recycling carts. It creates unnecessary waste and they get caught up in the sorting equipment. Thanks!
