Purpose

The Village of Winneconne has adopted Community Oriented Policing as a core part of our public safety philosophy. This approach addresses crime and social concerns through a blend of traditional law enforcement, prevention, problem solving, community engagement, and partnerships.

Our community policing model balances reactive responses to calls for service with proactive efforts that focus on the root causes of crime and disorder. Success relies on police and community members working together to identify concerns and develop effective solutions.

School Resource Officer (SRO)

After the Winneconne School Board and the Village Public Safety Committee determined that a full-time School Resource Officer would best serve students and staff, Officer Honer was assigned to the SRO position.

While part of his role is to handle incidents involving ordinance or criminal violations, Officer Honer’s work extends far beyond enforcement. He builds positive relationships with students, faculty, and parents and is present daily at all three school buildings.
