The Village of Winneconne is currently seeking community members to fill several open committee positions. This is a great opportunity to get involved, share your voice, and help shape the future of our community.

We currently have vacancies on the following committees:

  • Parks Committee
  • Plan Commission 
  • Historic Preservation Committee

These volunteer positions play an important role in guiding parks and recreation, community planning and development, and preserving the history and character of Winneconne.

Beautification Committee
The Beautification Committee works to enhance the appearance and charm of the Village through landscaping, community projects, and seasonal displays.

Board of Appeals
The Board of Appeals reviews requests for zoning variances and ensures that Village ordinances are applied fairly and consistently.

Cemetery Board
The Cemetery Board consists of five members appointed by the Village President and approved by the Village Board, along with the Clerk.
This board oversees cemetery property and record maintenance, and recommends rules, regulations, and cemetery fees for Village Board approval.

Personnel and Finance Committee
The Personnel and Finance Committee reviews Village financial reports, budgets, and expenditures, ensuring responsible fiscal management.

Citizen Openings – Historic Preservation Committee

The Village of Winneconne Historic Preservation Committee is seeking two citizen members to join its efforts in preserving, advancing, and celebrating the rich heritage of our community.

About the Committee:
This five-member body (four citizens and one Trustee) works in cooperation with the Winneconne Historical Society to identify, preserve, and promote the history of the Village and its surroundings. Members serve as advocates for maintaining the character and historical significance of Winneconne’s properties and landmarks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Promote historic preservation and education within the community
  • Collaborate with local historical groups to safeguard cultural assets
  • Assist with public awareness efforts and preservation projects
  • Advise the Village Board on historic preservation policies

Appointment Details:

  • Positions: 2 Citizen Members
  • Term Length: 2 years (staggered appointments)
  • Eligibility: Adult Village residents passionate about history or preservation
  • Appointed by: Village President, confirmed by the Village Board
  • Compensation: Volunteer position; expenses reimbursed if authorized

Library Board
The Library Board oversees the operation and management of the Winneconne Public Library and helps plan for its future services and programming.

The Village of Winneconne Parks Committee is seeking one citizen member to join this important community body responsible for planning, developing, and maintaining our parks, recreation facilities, and community programs.

About the Committee:
The Parks Committee consists of three Trustees and two citizen members. The Committee oversees:

  • Management and maintenance of Village parks, shelters, and recreational facilities
  • Operation and supervision of community recreation programs
  • Urban forestry and tree management within public spaces and rights-of-way
  • Annual park budget recommendations and capital improvement planning

Appointment Details:

  • Position: 1 Citizen Member
  • Term Length: 3 years (staggered terms)
  • Eligibility: Adult Village residents with an interest in civic and recreational development
  • Compensation: Volunteer (no pay)
  • Appointed by: Village President, confirmed by the Village Board

Citizen Volunteers Wanted – Plan Commission (Two Vacancies)

The Village of Winneconne Plan Commission is currently seeking two citizen members to fill open seats on this seven-member advisory body. The Commission plays a pivotal role in guiding the Village’s growth, zoning, and long-term strategic development.

Role of the Plan Commission:
The Commission is responsible for:

  • Preparing and maintaining the Comprehensive Plan for Winneconne’s physical development
  • Reviewing plats, land divisions, zoning amendments, and development proposals
  • Advising the Village Board on planning, land use, and public improvement projects
  • Recommending updates to Village ordinances affecting land and community development

Appointment Details:

  • Positions: 2 Citizen Members
  • Term Length: 3 years
  • Eligibility: Adult Village residents interested in community planning and development
  • Appointed by: Village President, confirmed by the Village Board
  • Compensation: Volunteer position
